Who is eligible for GLP-1 weight loss treatment?

Who is eligible for GLP-1 weight loss treatment?

  • You have a BMI of 27 or higher, categorized as overweight, coupled with at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes

Who shouldn’t use GLP-1s for weight loss?

This medication isn’t suitable for everyone and there are a few medical conditions that also exclude you from using this medication including:

  • You or a family member have ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if you have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
  • You have had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide or any of the ingredients in GLP-1s
  • If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding
